Natalie Curran

I’m Natalie Curran, a therapist who works with adolescent and adult women ages 15 and up who are navigating anxiety, perfectionism, self esteem, and the pressures of being a high achiever. I work with clients who are thoughtful, driven, and used to holding themselves to high standards, but may find themselves feeling overwhelmed, overly self critical, or stuck in the belief that they should always be doing more.

I believe therapy should be a space where you can show up as your whole self, without feeling like you have to have everything figured out. My approach is warm, collaborative, and trauma informed, and I place a strong emphasis on building a genuine therapeutic relationship where you feel safe to be honest, supported in your growth, and truly understood.

An Integrative, Evidence-Based Approach

My approach draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Gestalt therapy. I integrate these approaches based on each client’s unique needs, goals, and experiences. Together, we may explore patterns of anxious or perfectionistic thinking, better understand the different parts of yourself that show up in challenging moments, and develop more flexible and compassionate ways of responding to difficult emotions. We may also focus on strengthening self esteem, increasing self awareness, and becoming more present and connected in your relationships and everyday life.

For the Woman Who Always Has It Together

I especially enjoy working with women who are used to being in control, holding themselves to high standards, and being the person who has it together. You may find yourself thinking through every possible outcome, having a hard time letting go, or feeling uncomfortable when things are uncertain or outside of your control. You may also notice that you are much harder on yourself than you would ever be with someone else. While these patterns may have helped you feel successful, safe, or in control, they can also make it difficult to slow down, be vulnerable, ask for help, or give yourself the same compassion you offer to others. In therapy, we can explore where these patterns come from and work toward greater flexibility, self trust, and connection with yourself and the people around you.

Curiosity Instead of Judgment

Therapy is an opportunity to understand these patterns with curiosity rather than judgment and begin creating new ways of navigating life. My goal is not to take away the parts of you that make you ambitious, conscientious, or driven. Instead, I want to help you experience those qualities with more flexibility and self compassion, so that achievement can be something you value rather than something that determines your worth.

Whether you are feeling anxious, stuck in perfectionism, struggling with confidence, or simply tired of putting so much pressure on yourself, you do not have to figure it all out on your own. Therapy can be a place to slow down, get curious, laugh a little, and step out of the pressure to always have it all figured out.
