Melissa Velliquette

As a dedicated and compassionate licensed professional counselor based in Atlanta, I specialize in working with client who may struggle in their personal and professional lives, feel a loss of satisfaction in their relationships, or have difficulty trusting themselves or others. Many of my clients have experienced symptoms of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), relational trauma, eating disorders including ARFID, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), anxiety, and grief. Some of my clients may struggle with alcohol use to cope with the stress of life and sometimes that may affect their closest relationships. With a profound commitment to helping individuals and couples navigate their mental health journeys, I employ a variety of evidence-based treatment modalities tailored to meet each client’s unique needs.

My clients often navigate a combination of complex challenges including intricate family relationships, symptoms of ADHD and OCD, struggles with work-life balance, and exploring their relationships with a higher power. They may also face difficulties in setting and maintaining boundaries, self-esteem concerns, anxiety, depression, and distress regarding a beloved pet.

I specialize in assisting individuals facing a myriad of challenges that affect their daily lives, spanning from personal relationships and household dynamics to academic and professional settings. Whether you’re on the verge of a significant life change or dealing with smaller, yet significant transitions, you’re not alone. It’s typical to feel uncertain about the path ahead, especially when it seems that others have everything neatly sorted while you’re still searching for directions and answers.

Many individuals experience feelings of being left behind, yearning for stability amidst constant change, and wrestling with the unsettling realization that their once clear life path has been disrupted by unexpected events. The once seamless flow of daily life now appears challenging and difficult to control despite efforts to do so. In such moments, having a fresh perspective and support can be invaluable in navigating forward.

I collaborate with clients to help them develop self-awareness and self-acceptance. I offer a nurturing space while we work so clients can realize their aspirations, formulate practical strategies, and actively turn their goals into tangible realities. Drawing from my diverse background as a former school counselor in public education and my current experience in higher education, I offer a unique insight into the inherent stressors students encounter. My experience has afforded me a nuanced understanding of unhealthy dynamics in both work and home environments. I am an ally of the LGBTQIA+ community. Currently, I provide counseling services both in person and virtually in Georgia, and virtually for clients in South Carolina.
